LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle 1Starting November 2010 onwards, the incredible saga of Harry Potter will come to a climatic end with the movie release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. To celebrate, LEGO is releasing a new line of Harry Potter toys (i.e. the *Highly-Rated* LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle) sure to please even the most avid Harry Potter fan. LEGO has built a lasting reputation of quality and fun over the years with building toys from popular movies such as Star Wars, Prince of Persia, Batman and Harry Potter. Each LEGO movie toy represents a scene from these famous movies right down to the smallest detail. These advanced LEGO toys are mainly for children 8 – 14 years of age, but adults love these sets just as much as the kids.

LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle is definitely the largest of the Harry Potter sets released. This set has over 1,290 LEGO pieces, 3 manuals and 11 Harry Potter LEGO minifigures. The castle is magnificent and extremely detailed right down to the sorting hat and Gryffindor’s Sword in professor Dumbledor’s room as well as Sirius Black’s face in the Gryffindor common room. You will even find Tom Riddle’s book hidden in a suit of knight’s armor. You will also find the restricted library of Hogwarts Castle in this set along with the Astronomy Tower and vanishing cabinet.

LEGO sets are valued for the LEGO minifigures that ship with each set. You cannot purchase the LEGO minifigures separately and that is what makes them so special. The only way to purchase individual LEGO minifigures is through sites like eBay or Amazon.com and the occasional garage sale if you are lucky enough to find them. Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle contains some of the most valued minifigures such as Harry Potter, Hermione Grange, Lord Voldemort, Albus Dumbledore, Professors Snape, McGonagall, and Flitwick, Argus Filch and his cat, Mrs. Norris, and 2 Dementor minifigures.

The larger LEGO sets will require some time to put together. You can easily spend several hours putting a set like this together, especially if this is your first set. You will want to find a large space to work and be mindful of small children and animals as there are lots of small pieces with this set.

One drawback to this set is the absence of Ron Weasley, but you can get the Ron minifigure from the LEGO Harry Potter Hagrid’s Hut set. This LEGO set is a smaller set and is priced at an affordable mid-range price. Other LEGO Harry Potter sets released are Quidditch Match, Freeing Doby, The Burrows, and the Hogwart’s Express Train Set.

Overall, the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwart’s Castle set is a great set for the LEGO collector or the Harry Potter fan. The quality is superb and is exactly what you would come to expect from LEGO. Once the castle is built, there is lots of time for play and fun considering the number of minifigures that ship with this set. The castle is large enough to play inside the rooms with lots of accessories and items from the movies.

Remember that this set will be in high demand during the holidays this year. Stores have been notorious for selling out of popular LEGO sets early, so grab yours before they disappear!
